  • Middle School Chinese and English Visual Arts Teacher

    Silicon Valley International School is seeking a passionate, creative, and bilingual MYP Visual Arts Teacher who can teach classes in Chinese and English. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore visual expression, develop artistic skills, and engage critically with art in both local and global contexts. Instruction will be delivered in both English and Chinese, supporting our bilingual program and fostering intercultural understanding through the arts. This is a part-time position 50%.

    Please note: There exists the potential to transition this role into a full-time position, which would encompass 50% teaching responsibilities and 50% Education Support Staff duties, including substitute teaching and supervision, for the suitable candidate.
    Key Responsibilities
    • Plan, teach, and assess MYP Visual Arts courses in alignment with IB MYP objectives, criteria, and inquiry-based pedagogy.
    • Deliver instruction in both English and Chinese, ensuring that students develop visual literacy, technical skills, and creative confidence in both languages.
    • Create an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment that encourages risk-taking, reflection, and exploration in the arts.
    • Use a variety of teaching strategies and assessment tools to support diverse learning styles and language abilities.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive curriculum and integration of language development within the arts.
    • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, provide timely feedback, and communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Participate actively in professional learning, curriculum development, and school events.
     
    Specific Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    • Proven teaching experience in Visual Arts at the middle school level; experience with the IB MYP strongly preferred.
    • Bilingual proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) and English, with the ability to teach confidently in both languages.
    • Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning, differentiation, and formative assessment.
    • Commitment to fostering creativity, cultural awareness, and artistic expression in a bilingual and international environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative team player

    Compensation:
    Our compensation is based on educational attainment and years of experience. The annual salary for this 50% FTE part-time teaching position for the 2025–2026 school year will be prorated based on a full-time equivalent; the range is $79,903 (BA Step 3) to $123,672 (PhD Step 23).
    In addition, the candidate will be eligible for prorated full-time equivalent (FTE) compensation during the three academic breaks: Winter, Spring, and Fall, as well as the two-week holiday period at the end of the year.
    As this position does not meet the school’s threshold for regular benefits, the candidate will qualify for limited eligibility in the school's current benefit package. However, we do offer: 
    •  Holiday pay will be prorated. 
    • Employees are entitled to forty (40) hours of paid sick leave. 
    • Eligibility to enroll and participate in the 403(b) retirement plan is granted immediately upon employment. 
    • The employer match for contributions to the 403(b) retirement plan commences after two years of employment and 1,000 hours of service in each academic  year, structured as follows: 
      • A 5% match from years three through ten 
      • A 7% match after the completion of ten years of service 
    •  Professional development initiatives will be customized to align with teachers' needs and interests, in accordance with the school's mission.

  • Part-Time Educational Support Staff

    Silicon Valley International School (INTL) is seeking a caring, energetic, and student-focused individual to join our Upper School as Education Support Staff. This position is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive connections with middle and high school students and who takes pride in supporting their growth and well-being in a multicultural learning community.

    In this role, the Education Support Staff will provide supervision and guidance during after-school hours, helping to ensure a safe, structured, and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate is responsible, adaptable, and collaborative, with the ability to engage students while also managing logistics and supporting the daily flow of school life. A genuine enthusiasm for working with students and a commitment to INTL’s mission are essential.

    This is a part-time (31% FTE), non-exempt, academic-year position that does not qualify for benefits. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., totaling 10 hours per week. The work calendar follows student attendance, meaning the position is not scheduled during school breaks, including winter, spring, fall, and summer, unless otherwise approved. While these breaks are unpaid, employment status remains active and continuous.
    Compensation
    The compensation for this position is $29.00 per hour.

    Your Responsibilities During the Academic Year
    During the school year, you will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Students and support both the Middle School and High School during our after-school programming. In this role, you will:
     
    • Supervise students during the end-of-day dismissal process, including Study Hall and dismissal
    • Supervise the Middle School after-school study hall
    • Assist with enforcing school policies and ensuring that students are safe and in the correct place
    • Provide logistical support for after-school activities and events
    • Support clubs and student council activities as needed
    • Help de-escalate and resolve student conflicts in a calm, respectful, and solutions-oriented manner
    • Act as a consistent and professional presence, serving as a positive role model for students
    • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment
    • Remain informed about and aligned with school protocols, expectations, and behavioral standards
     
    Your ability to build relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries will be essential. You’ll be expected to model maturity, responsibility, and respect, helping students feel supported and held to high standards.

  • Substitute Teacher (German, French, Mandarin and English Speakers) Pre-K to 12th

    Silicon Valley International School [INTL] seeks variable-hour substitute teachers for its elementary, middle, and early years programs, beginning immediately. We seek substitute teachers who are native speakers and literate in French, Mandarin, German, or English. 

    Our school offers three bilingual programs in Chinese, French, and German, along with an Upper School Language Acquisition program (USLA) for students with no prior immersion experience. Silicon Valley International School's instructors do not just teach students an additional language; they also impart the skills to become agile, responsive, and global thinkers. Moreover, we strengthen our language programs through the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, which codifies our structured inquiry pedagogy.
